Bhaba Pass Trek
Tour Itinerary
Day 01: Shimla - Narkanda - Hattu Peak - Sarahan. (175Km)
Drive from Shimla enroute visit Kufri, Theog, Matiana, Narkanda hike to Hattu Peak (3135 Meter Peak) walk back to the Jeep lunch either in Narkanda / Sainj, after lunch on to Rampur, drive through Jeori reach Sarahan for a over night stay.
Day 02: Sarahan - Wangtu - Karcham - Kalpa -(92Km)
Early morning visit the Bird Park walk for 1 hour, visit the Bhima Kali temple one of the most important temples of Kali in India where there use to be human sacrifice before 18th Century, drive to Jeori past the Wangtu bridge then drive towards, Karcham reach Kalpa for a overnight stay in guest house in Kalpa. Visit the monastery & the orphanage in Kalpa. The view of Kinner Kailash (6050 meters) will be an enchanting site.
Day 03: Kalpa - Kafnu (85 Km)
After Breakfast drive back to Wangtu bridge and reach Kafnoo which is going to be the last village from Kinnaur side for you before trek, for a over night stay in the Camps/tents
Day 04: Kafnu - Mulling (3280m/10758 ft)
Our trek today will take us the 15 kms (5-6 hours) to our meadow campsite at Mulling. The trail alongside the Wanger River is fairly wide and well marked passing through alpine meadows and forests of pine and birch. Overnight in tent.
Day 05: Mulling - Kara (3560m/11676 ft)
After breakfast we set off by crossing the river by a natural boulder
bridge - the trail today is approximately 6 km and climbs gradually
until we reach the meadow at Kara. Along the way we may be lucky
enough to encounter nomadic Gaddi shepherds in their traditional dress
tending their flocks.
Kara is another excellent campsite with many species of alpine flowers
and great views of a range of Himalayan peaks on the Kinnaur/Spiti
border. Overnight in tent.
Day 06: Kara - Phustirang (4200m/13776 ft)
The trek today will take us to the foot of the Bhaba pass - a walk of 6 km. It is a steep path that follows the left bank of the river till we reach the campground for the night at Phustrirang. From here stunning views of Kinnauri landscape can be seen including Hansbeshan Peak (5840 m/19156 ft) which dominates the skyline. Overnight in tent.
Day 07: Phustirang - Bhaba Pass (4865m/15958 ft) - Chhochhden (4000 m/13120 ft)
Today's walk is 13km which should take 6-7 hours - the day starts with the climb up to the Bhaba Pass also known as Tari Khango - there are many spectacular views along the way and in the distance we should be able to spot the Pin Parvati Pass - another popular trekking route. Descending down towards Bara Bulder there is a marked change in the landscape from the alpine meadows of the last few days to the brown desert like slopes of the Pin Valley. Our riverside campground for the night is at Chhochhden. Overnight in tent.
Day 08 : Chhochhden - Mudh- Kaza (12KM/4HR, 65KM/2HR)
After breakfast we continue to walk down the left bank of the river to
Mudh - a distance of around 12km. Here the valley is broad and the
terrain very rocky with very little vegetation. Mudh is an enchanting
little hamlet with a small gompa perched on a hill.
This walk is on the right bank of River Pin and has very gradual gradient.
Drive from Mud and drive to Kaza. Night stay at a guest house.
Day 09: Kaza - Manali ( 200 KMS/ 8-9 HRS)
Drive for Manali via Kunzum and Rohtang la as we head back towards home. Reach Manali in the evening and settle into your room. Evening at leisure. Night stay in hotel
